Two digital trainees from Barking & Dagenham College have secured a National competition win with their Learning Tom smart phone app prototype, designed to cut the cost of driving lessons and car insurance premiums.
Competition partners, TomTom Telematics, provided acceleration, cornering, braking and gear-shifting data gathered by their LINK 100 connected car technology. TomTom Telematics works with leading insurance companies across Europe to offer LINK 100 data as evidence to secure lower insurance premiums for drivers, an idea, which is gaining in popularity in the UK.
Duo pitch ideas to Buckingham Palace for the iDEA finals!
Premenesh and Issa, two IT students from Barking & Dagenham College have reached the finals of iDEA – the Inspiring Digital Enterprise Awards – with their Student Pad app. iDEA is championed by HRH The Duke of York, KG, with partners the Nominet Trust.
The duo’s ‘Student Pad’ is an application that helps students communicate with teachers and organises their school life, including providing easy access to timetables and resources
Students design App to help NHS mental health doctors!
Two Barking & Dagenham College students have been working with the North East London NHS Foundation Trust (NELFT) to help design a new application, which will save mental health doctors time, when finding treatment and care guidance.
The Trust’s medical education department came to the College after coming up with the idea to develop an application, which will allow doctors to have a wealth of guidance at their fingertips.
